Larkin with Women

by Ben Brown

English poet and novelist Philip Larkin may seem an unlikely candidate for the nickname 'Don Juan of Hull', but this funny, touching drama offers an insight into his complex private life.

A clever, funny and distinguished man, Larkin was quite a draw for the ladies.  He desired sex and female company but strictly on his terms.  Over thirty years his life was dominated by three lovers - articulate, vivacious Monica; quiet and prim Maeve and his down-to-earth secretary of 18 years, Betty.

This skilful and moving play goes behind the scenes of a life shared with these three very different women, combining Larkin's poetry with his quick-fire wit and some of his much-loved jazz music.
