The Rise and Fall of Little Voice

by Jim Cartwright

A painfully shy young girl nicknamed Little Voice spends her time hidden away in her bedroom. her only comfort the record collection of famous divas bequeathed to her by her father.  But when her domineering mother takes up with a smalltime showbiz agent, Little Voice's uncanny talent for mimicking greats such as Judy Garland and Shirley Bassey is unwittingly uncovered.

Suddenly thrust from her lonely isolation to the bright lights of clubland, Little Voice embarks on an exhilarating and emotional journey.

Jim Cartwright's uproariously funny, heart-rendingly sad drama of self-discovery and freedom was the inspiration for the 1988 film 'Little Voice'.
