Welcome to a brand new season at the People’s Theatre.
We always strive to bring audiences a varied and invigorating programme and the
Spring/Summer lineup is no exception.
This season sees well-loved works sit alongside exciting new
writing. We are proud to open with Look Back in Anger, celebrating
the fiftieth anniversary of the staging of this John Osborne classic.
Elsewhere in the season audiences are invited to revel in the biting wit of
Noël Coward or take flight to the forest with Rosalind in Shakespeare's
much-loved comedy As You Like It. We round off this season with the
stirring comedy-drama Brassed Off - Paul Allen's stage version of the hit
British film.
We are also delighted to once again play host to the People's
Play Competition. This new writing initiative (run in conjunction with New
Writing North) aims to discover and develop new writers for theatre and the
winning play will be staged in our Studio Upstairs.
We hope to see you at the People’s Theatre soon and know you will enjoy our
exhilarating and diverse Spring/Summer Season.
