The People's Play award winner

Mike Yeaman has won the award for his play 'Lucky Numbers', which will be performed in the studio Upstairs from Tuesday 29th April until Saturday 3rd May.  For details click here.

Pantomime Auditions!!!!!

There will be more auditions for the panto this year which, to remind everyone, is Dick Whittington. If people are interested in getting involved either as a cast member, or as part of the crew, please come along on Tuesday 18th September at 7.00pm. There will be dancing, singing and acting auditions so please wear appropriate attire to dance in!

   The People's Play Competition 2008 

Our biennial competition for new playwrights, sponsored by the People's Theatre and New Writing North is now underway once more.  The prize is £2000 plus a performance of the play in the People's Theatre Studio Upstairs.  Last date for entries is November 5th 2007 by which time you will have to have written at least 20 pages of the play.  For full details of the competition rules etc. click here or for further details visit the New Writing North website.

It's all been a bit quiet on the ePlay front lately, but rest assured that normal service has resumed! Sign up now to receive all the latest news on what's happening at the People's Theatre.

Wardrobe Closing Dates

The last night for hiring from the Theatre Wardrobe will be tomorrow, 9th July.  All hired costumes must be returned by 16th July.
Hiring re-commences for the autumn on 10th September.

Box Office Staffing
Our new Box Office Assistant has now started work so our Box Office is once again open for part of every working day.  If you prefer speaking to a human being rather than an answering machine (and who doesn't?) Alison Carr will be in the Box Office usually between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday to Friday but her hours do vary.  For full details of opening hours click here

Greenroom Upgrade
Our Greenroom - the members' clubroom - has undergone a major make-over during the summer recess.  The bar has been extended, the cellar upgraded, new ceiling, lights, curtains and furniture installed.  What's more, the licensing laws have changed so that we are now able to invite our patrons to join us for a drink after they have seen the play.  We look forward to meeting more of our audience members in our fancy new bar!
